Interior Designer Robert Ledingham receives IIDA Leadership Award

Vancouver, BC - The Interior Design Institute of British Columbia (IDIBC), along with Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) have presented long-standing IDIBC member, Robert Ledingham, with the prestigious 2011 Leadership Award of Excellence. The award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the profession of interior design, was presented at the inaugural IDC/IIDA Vancouver Leaders Breakfast on February 24 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Trevor Linden, former NHL all-star and Olympian, delivered the keynote address.

"Robert has been instrumental in the advancement of the profession, locally, nationally, and internationally," says IDC president, David Hanson. "His role in the development of the interior design professional accreditation process, along with his numerous awards and professional accolades, make him a leader in the interior design community and truly deserving of this honour."

Robert is one of Canada's most celebrated interior designers, with more than two decades of experience in the corporate, hospitality, and retail sectors. He has been widely recognized throughout his distinguished career and is the recipient of more than 30 awards for his designs, including several City of Vancouver Heritage Awards, for his contribution to heritage design, and induction to Western Living magazine's Hall of Fame.

Robert has consistently been involved with the arts community and charitable institutions, as a board member and benefactor. Colleagues have praised him as a dedicated, committed supporter and a voice of reason for the interior design profession and respective business communities.

"It's a great honour to be recognized by my peers in this way," says Robert Ledingham. "This award exemplifies my passion to see the continued growth and advancement of the interior design profession. I hope to continue to be active in our industry and inspire others to take a leadership role in our community."

Ledingham is a Fellow of International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and a past president of IDC. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Manitoba for his leadership in the field of interior design. He is currently principle of Ledingham Design Consultants.
