IDA seeks new members for Council vacancies

Interior Designers of Alberta has vacant positions on Council. The new slate will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, which will be held via Videoconference beginning at 5 p.m.

Members who are entitled to vote at an Annual General Meeting may nominate other Members. A nomination must be made in writing and be accompanied by the consent of the nominated Member. Members may also nominate themselves. Download the Nomination Form.

The following positions are available on Council:

Councilor - up to five positions available
Candidates for the Councilor position must be must be of good character, adhere to the ethical standards of the Association, and hold one of the following categories of membership: Registered, Associate, or Fellow. Councilors are elected by the membership and the Term of Office is two (2) years. Councilors must have been actively practicing in the field of interior design in one of the categories of membership in the Interior Designers of Alberta for at least one year in the three years immediately preceding election to Council. Council positions (portfolios) are appointed following the elections by the Councilors. Councilors are required to attend meetings of the Council, which are typically held by conference-call every month, and an in-person meeting typically scheduled once or twice a year.

Member of the Public
Candidates for the Member of the Public position of Council must be of good character and adhere to the ethical standards of the Association. Ideal Candidates will be in a related field and have a strong interest in advancing the work of the Association. The duties of the Member of the Public will be as prescribed by Council. The Term of Office is two (2) years. The Public Memberis required to attend meetings of the Council, which are typically held by conference-call every month, and an in-person meeting typically scheduled once or twice a year.

Student Representative
Candidates for this position are enrolled in a post-secondary interior design education program approved by Council, of good character and adhere to the ethical standards of the Association. The Term of Office is one (1) year. The Student Representative is requested to attend meetings of the Council, which are typically held by conference-call every month, and an in-person meeting typically scheduled once or twice a year.
