    IDC seminars: Catch up on CEUs at the Manitoba Design Exchange

    PIDIM members can catch up on their CEUs before the Manitoba Design Exchange on October 4, 2012 - catch a seminar and attend the table top show in the same location.

    Seminar #1: Make Better Business Decisions

    Decision-making errors exist within all levels of organizations. It is important to recognize and accept (without blame or shame) that mistakes occur. Then it is time get over it, move on and apply a process that will enable successful decision making. There are many challenges that need to be considered when changing the way we make decisions. This session will explore eight common steps to making better business decisions.

    Richard Lannon
    Richard Lannon is more than a seasoned professional. He has over 25 years of professional experience in strategic planning, business improvement and business transformation. He excels at helping business and organizations take a structured approach to engage their people and transform their business environment. Richard is an award-winning business trainer, strategic mentor and consultant. He received the Distinguished Teaching Award 2010 from Mount Royal University for his contribution to two successful programs in business analysis and project management. Richard also received the MKS Learning's Business Recognition Award for his work with transitioning professionals and micro enterprise development in strategic training, coaching and mentorship. Richard is also a professional member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS). Richard's thought leadership, clear presentation style and edgy ideas have been featured in publications around the world including the National Post, the Business Analyst Times and the Project Times, where he's provided comment on the importance of bridging the gaps between business and the enabling organization through engaging stakeholders and developing their greatest asset, their people.

    Seminar #2: Introduction to Millwork

    This course will cover key considerations for the design and detailing of millwork in commercial interiors, including:
    Millwork Standards – an overview of the Architectural Woodwork Standards Edition 1
    Material Science / Panel Products – commonly specified panel products in commercial interiors
    Millwork Hardware - commonly specified hardware and their application
    Documentation - introduction to Casework Drawing Standards. Reduce time spent drawing and coordinating.

    Lori Penner, Professional Interior Designer, PIDIM, IDC, NCIDQ, Lean Healthcare Certificate Holder
    Lori has over 20 years of experience in programming, planning and interior design. Her work has focused on health care facilities and she has been involved in projects of varying size and complexity including rural personal care homes, hospital based diagnostic and treatment units, psychiatric units, cancer treatment as well as clinical and containment laboratories. She is passionate about how details contribute to well-designed spaces.

    Wendy Tyson, Professional Interior Designer, PIDIM, IDC, NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C
    Wendy also has in excess of 20 years of interior design experience, working in various sectors such as healthcare and education. She has worked on clinical spaces, research buildings, office/workplace environments, and both K-12 and post-secondary facilities.
